Overview/Details

The FASSET Bursary for the 2025 academic year supports unemployed learners, interns, and trainees pursuing IT-related and critical skills qualifications within the FAS sector. Open to South African citizens with a household income under R1,000,000 per annum, the bursary covers tuition, textbooks, and, for unemployed learners, accommodation and meals. Funding is capped at R100,000 per annum for university students and R40,000 for TVET learners. Selection is on a first-come, first-served basis, prioritising academic excellence. The application deadline is 31 December 2024.

Requirements

For Unemployed Learners:

  • Must be South African citizens.
  • Combined household income must not exceed R1,000,000 per annum.
  • Must be registered or accepted at a public University, University of Technology, or TVET college.
  • Preference is given to IT-related and national critical skills qualifications within the FAS sector.

For Learners in Learning Development Programmes (Interns and Trainees):

  • Must be registered or accepted at a public University, University of Technology, or TVET college.
  • Preference is given to IT-related and national critical skills qualifications within the FAS sector.

Mandatory Documents

Applications must include certified copies (not older than 6 months):

  1. Applicant’s ID.
  2. Parents’/guardians’ IDs.
  3. Highest qualification and academic record (Grade 12 learners must submit trial results).
  4. Proof of household income (payslips or affidavits in the absence of payslips).
  5. Proof of registration or acceptance from the institution.
  6. Proof of residence.
  7. Employment confirmation letters (for trainees and interns).
  8. FASSET unemployment declaration form (for unemployed applicants).

Note: Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
