The Bachelor of Nursing Extended Curriculum at Nelson Mandela University is a five-year programme that provides an extended academic pathway for students who demonstrate potential for a nursing career but require additional preparation in sciences and mathematics. The additional foundational year strengthens students' biological sciences, physical sciences, and academic skills before they progress into clinical nursing practice. Graduates are eligible for registration with SANC and are equipped to serve in South Africa's public health system, where nurse shortages remain a critical challenge.
