The Bachelor of Laws at the University of Mpumalanga is a four-year professional legal degree that qualifies graduates to practise as attorneys or advocates in South Africa. Students study all major fields of South African law — constitutional, criminal, contract, property, commercial, labour, and family law — developing the legal reasoning, advocacy, and ethical judgment required by the legal profession. UMP's LLB programme is designed to produce lawyers who are deeply aware of the legal and social challenges facing South Africa's most under-served communities, including land rights, labour exploitation, and access to justice in rural Mpumalanga. Graduates register with the Legal Practice Council (LPC) and can serve as attorneys, advocates, prosecutors, or in-house legal counsel across South Africa's justice system.
