Overview/Details

Eskom invites South African university students who are passionate about engineering to apply for its Engineering Diploma Bursary Programme for the 2027 academic year. This bursary supports first year and second year diploma students, as well as third year BEng Tech students in Electrical and Industrial Engineering, who are currently enrolled and actively studying at a recognised public tertiary institution in South Africa.

Studies must be taken up at a University of Technology. Please note that applications for Advanced Diploma qualifications will not be considered under this programme.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be currently enrolled and actively studying at a recognised University of Technology in South Africa
  • Must be a first year or second year diploma student, or a third year BEng Tech student in Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Must have an overall academic aggregate of 50% or above
  • Must have no carry over of subjects
  • Must submit a full academic record for the engineering diploma or BEng Tech currently being pursued
  • Must not be holding any other bursary
  • Advanced Diploma qualifications will not be considered
  • Applicants may be subjected to a psychometric assessment

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current)
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Diploma in Data Engineering
  • Diploma in Chemical Engineering
  • Diploma in Measurement Control and Instrumentation
  • BEng Tech in Industrial Engineering
  • BEng Tech in Electrical Engineering

Please note: the final decision will depend on 2026 final academic results.
