Details

The BSc in Speech-Language Pathology at UCT is a four-year professional degree that prepares graduates to assess and treat the full range of human communication disorders — from delayed language development in children to aphasia after stroke, voice disorders in teachers and performers, and swallowing difficulties in neurological patients. South Africa's multilingual context and high burden of neurological and developmental disease create enormous and largely unmet demand for skilled speech-language therapists, particularly in public health settings and schools. UCT's programme is known for its clinical rigour, its research contributions to bilingualism and augmentative communication, and its emphasis on culturally sensitive practice in African contexts. After one year of community service, graduates register with the HPCSA. Note: APS shown is the NSC sub-minimum; UCT's full FPS for Health Sciences includes NBT scores.
