The Bachelor of Science Augmented in Life Sciences at the University of Zululand is a four-year extended degree designed for students who demonstrate potential in the life sciences but require additional academic preparation before entering the main BSc curriculum. The programme builds foundational scientific literacy, study skills, and content knowledge in the first year, then progresses through a full BSc in Life Sciences covering biochemistry, botany, zoology, microbiology, and related disciplines. The augmented pathway broadens access to science education for students from under-resourced schools in KwaZulu-Natal, producing graduates who go on to contribute meaningfully to science and healthcare.
