Details

The Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at UJ is an intellectually rigorous three-year degree that combines three of the most influential disciplines in understanding society, governance, and human affairs. Students engage with political theory, ethical philosophy, and economic analysis — developing the capacity to understand and respond to complex public policy challenges in South Africa and on the African continent.

PPE is widely regarded internationally as a premier preparation for careers in public service, policy research, think tanks, international organisations, journalism, and law. At UJ, the degree is grounded in African contexts and contemporary challenges, making graduates well-suited to careers in government, diplomacy, development finance, and civil society.

Admission requires a minimum APS of 30 (excluding Life Orientation) and at least 60% in English. NCV applicants are not considered for this programme. Selection is based on academic merit.
