The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in Animal Science at the University of Pretoria is a four-year degree that provides a scientific foundation in animal production, animal nutrition, animal physiology, genetics, and livestock management systems. Students develop the knowledge and skills to manage commercial livestock enterprises, improve animal productivity, and contribute to food security through sustainable animal production. The programme spans ruminants, pigs, poultry, and aquaculture — giving graduates broad expertise across South Africa's diverse livestock sector, which includes the country's significant beef, dairy, pork, poultry, and small stock industries. UP's Animal Science programme has strong industry links with major livestock companies and access to research farms and experimental facilities.
