The MultiChoice Bursary Programme aims to support South African students pursuing studies in STEM-related fields critical to the development of Sub-Saharan Africa. The company, established in 1993, operates the DStv Satellite Television service and includes services such as M-NET, Showmax, GOtv, and SuperSport. With its Talent Factory initiative, MultiChoice demonstrates a commitment to empowering the next generation through education and skills development.

For the 2025 academic year, the bursary will benefit over 230 undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing qualifications aligned with scarce and critical skills within South Africa. The bursary covers only one academic year of study and excludes any outstanding debt.

Requirements

Applicants must meet these requirements to qualify:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Currently in Matric (2024) or have completed Matric.
  • Must be studying or intending to study full-time towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree (Honours or Masters) in one of the listed fields.
  • Must be a first-time undergraduate or postgraduate student.
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of:
    • 75% in Matric (for school leavers).
    • 65% in current studies (for students already in tertiary education).
  • Must be studying or accepted to study at a recognised higher learning institution in South Africa.

Supporting Documents Required:

  • Certified copy of ID document.
  • Certified copy of Matric certificate/statement of results.
  • Latest academic results on the institution’s letterhead (if applicable).
  • Proof of acceptance or preliminary acceptance from an accredited institution.
  • Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (latest payslips, affidavit if unemployed, or SASSA grant/pension proof if applicable).
