2027 Impala Platinum Refineries Bursary

Overview/Details

Impala Platinum Refineries offers a full-time tertiary bursary programme for the 2027 academic year, supporting high-achieving Grade 12 learners pursuing degrees in engineering and science at NQF Level 7.

The programme is based at the Implats Refineries in Springs, Gauteng, and is administered through the Human Resources Talent Management department. It forms part of Implats’ commitment to developing future professional talent through education and skills development.

Supported fields of study include Electrical Engineering (preferably Heavy Current), Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, and Chemistry.

Recipients receive financial assistance covering tuition, accommodation, and study materials, as well as December/January vacation work at the Refineries to gain practical industry exposure.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Grade 12.
  • Mathematics: minimum 60% (Level 5).
  • English: minimum 60% (Level 5).
  • Physical Science: minimum 60% (Level 5).
  • Certified copy of your ID.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Proof of residence (e.g. a parent or guardian’s municipal account).
  • Grade 11 results.
  • Conditional acceptance letter from a tertiary institution.
  • Note: preference is given to learners from Eastern Ekurhuleni, Ward 72, and schools in the vicinity of the Refineries.
