The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Biokinetics at NWU is a four-year Potchefstroom degree that trains students as movement specialists who use prescribed exercise as a treatment modality to improve the health and wellbeing of patients in both clinical and community settings. Students study exercise science, anatomy, pathophysiology, and rehabilitation, developing the skills to manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and musculoskeletal conditions — all of which are major public health concerns in South Africa. Biokinetics is a registered health profession in South Africa, giving graduates a defined scope of practice within the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Students must be medically fit for the physical component of the programme.
