The BEd in Senior Phase and FET Teaching specialising in Sepedi (Northern Sotho / Sesotho sa Leboa) at UJ qualifies graduates to teach Sepedi as a Home Language or First Additional Language to learners in Grades 7–12. Students develop advanced linguistic competency in Sepedi alongside pedagogy, curriculum studies, and school-based practice — preparing them to serve South Africa's large Sepedi-speaking school community, particularly across Gauteng, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga. African language teachers are critically needed across South Africa's public schooling system.
