Fasken’s 2026 bursary applications are open to South African law students. The bursary includes the Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship (open to students in any South African law faculty) and the Lundi Gadla Scholarship (exclusive to LLB students at NMMU). These scholarships honor the memory of two valued Fasken colleagues and are aimed at supporting law students who demonstrate academic potential, leadership, and a commitment to community issues.

Requirements

For the Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship:

  • Must be in 2nd, 3rd, or penultimate year of law school.
  • Must maintain a minimum average of 65% for all completed years of study.
  • Must have participated in Fasken vacation work programs.
  • Must show potential to become an effective attorney at Fasken.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, community interest, and self-motivation.
  • Scholarship may continue into the following year unless any subject is failed.

For the Lundi Gadla Scholarship:

  • Must be studying LLB at NMMU and be in penultimate or final year.
  • Must require financial support.
  • Must show leadership qualities and be motivated and hardworking.
  • Must have an interest in community projects.
