The Agbiz Centenary Bursary is a once-off annual award of R47,500 offered to a South African student registered for a master’s or PhD in an agribusiness management-related field at any recognised South African university. The bursary supports postgraduate research that contributes to agribusiness development in South Africa.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be registered for or accepted into a master’s or PhD programme in an agribusiness management-related field
  • Must have completed a relevant undergraduate qualification or be in the final year thereof
  • Must have achieved a minimum of 60% in major subjects
  • Required documents:
    • Completed application form
    • Letter of recommendation from academic supervisor or head of department (max 1 page)
    • Motivation letter by applicant explaining need for bursary and intended use (max 1 page)
  • Supervisor or HOD must submit biannual academic progress reports to Agbiz
  • Applicants already funded elsewhere must disclose other bursaries/sponsorships and agree to prioritise Agbiz’s requirements
  • Failure to meet progress requirements or to continue studies can result in cancellation and repayment of funds
