The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance at UCT is a four-year professional degree offered by the Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies — home to some of South Africa's most accomplished performing arts academics and practitioners. The programme is designed for students who want to work professionally in theatre and performance as actors, choreographers, directors, designers, teachers, researchers, and facilitators, with a curriculum that integrates practical studio work with theoretical and historical study. UCT's Cape Town setting provides rich connections to the city's vibrant professional theatre scene, and graduates are well prepared for the rigorous demands of professional performance careers in South Africa and internationally. An audition is the primary criterion for admission and is weighted more heavily than the APS.
