The Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and History at the University of Zululand brings together two complementary disciplines to develop graduates with deep insight into human societies, cultural practices, and historical change. UNIZULU's setting in Zululand — a region of profound historical and cultural significance, encompassing the Zulu Kingdom, Anglo-Zulu War sites, and living indigenous knowledge traditions — provides exceptional context for both fields. Students engage with ethnographic methods, oral history, archival research, and cultural theory, emerging with the interpretive and analytical skills valued across heritage, public policy, education, and research careers.

Heritage and Museum Practitioner – Manage collections, design exhibitions, and develop public programming at museums, heritage sites, and cultural institutions across South Africa.
Cultural Researcher – Conduct ethnographic and historical research for universities, government departments, or community organisations documenting living heritage.
High School Teacher (via PGCE) – Teach History and Social Sciences in secondary schools after completing a postgraduate teaching qualification.
Archivist – Preserve and manage historical records and cultural documents for government archives, universities, or community memory projects.
Development Practitioner – Apply anthropological insight to participatory community development, social impact assessment, and inclusive policy design.
