The Bachelor of Science specialising in Chemical Sciences at UFS Bloemfontein offers major combinations including Chemistry and Biochemistry, Chemistry and Microbiology, Chemistry and Physics, and Chemistry and Botany. Students choose their majors in the second year of this residential three-year programme. Chemistry is central to South Africa's mining, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and food industries, and UFS graduates are valued across these sectors and in academic and applied research. Note that only a limited number of students are admitted as Chemistry majors.
