The Diploma in Equine Science at TUT is one of the few specialised equine programmes at a South African university of technology, covering horse breeding, nutrition, health management, riding instruction, and stud management. South Africa has a thriving horse industry centred on thoroughbred racing in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape, as well as competitive equestrian sports and recreational riding. Graduates are equipped to manage horse studs, riding schools, and equine breeding enterprises.
