The Bachelor of Arts (Extended) at UJ offers an additional foundational year before students progress into the mainstream BA curriculum, providing access to the Faculty of Humanities for students who demonstrate potential but require further academic preparation. The four-year programme develops the same critical thinking, communication, and research competencies as the mainstream BA, with structured academic support in the extended first year. This route is available exclusively to first-time entering students with no prior higher education enrolment.
