The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Environmental Health at UJ prepares graduates to monitor, assess, and manage environmental factors that affect public health in South Africa. Students engage with food safety, water quality, waste management, occupational health, epidemiology, and environmental legislation — equipping them to work as Environmental Health Officers in municipal health departments, government agencies, and private sector organisations. Environmental health practitioners are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and play a critical role in South Africa's public health infrastructure.
