The Advanced Diploma in Accounting Sciences at the University of South Africa (Unisa) is a postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) offered in four specialisations — Financial Accounting, Internal Auditing, Management Accounting, and Taxation — designed for graduates who already hold a Diploma in Accounting Sciences or an appropriate degree in accounting. The programme provides advanced knowledge and applied competence in the chosen specialisation, bridging the gap between undergraduate accounting study and professional body requirements. It is specifically designed to support graduates who have an accounting degree not accredited by professional bodies, or a diploma, to progress towards professional designations with bodies such as SAICA, SAIPA, or CIMA. This is not an undergraduate entry-level qualification.
Admission requirements: An appropriate Diploma in Accounting Sciences (NQF Level 6) with modules in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, or an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Accounting Sciences, or any Bachelor's degree plus an Advanced Certificate in Accounting Sciences. This qualification requires a prior higher education qualification — it is not open to NSC applicants.
