• Be a South African citizen
• Demonstrate proven financial need based on household income
• Have a minimum academic average of 65% in the year of applying
• Have at least 65% in required subjects aligned with their intended qualification
• Not have completed Matric with Mathematical Literacy
• Have gained admission to a South African public university or university of technology for full-time study
