The Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and FET Phase Teaching with a specialisation in Languages or Language and History at Sol Plaatje University trains graduates to teach language subjects and, optionally, History in Grades 7 to 12. The Northern Cape's multilingual character — with Setswana, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, and English all widely spoken — creates strong demand for qualified language teachers who can teach home language, first additional language, and second additional language at secondary school level. The programme also offers the option of combining language teaching with History, an increasingly valued combination in South African schools.
English Home Language or English First Additional Language: NSC Level 4 or 5 respectively
One additional language (Afrikaans HL/FAL, Setswana HL/FAL or isiXhosa HL/FAL): NSC Level 4
History: NSC Level 4 (required if History is selected as an elective)
APS: Minimum 30 points
