The Bachelor of Science in Geoinformatics at the University of Pretoria is a three-year degree in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences that specialises in the collection, management, analysis, and presentation of geographic and spatial information using geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, surveying, and spatial data science. Geoinformatics graduates apply spatial thinking and technology to solve real-world problems across urban planning, environmental management, agriculture, mining, and disaster management. South Africa's need for spatial data in service delivery planning, land reform, infrastructure investment, and environmental monitoring creates significant demand for geoinformatics professionals across government and the private sector. The programme produces graduates registered with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC).
Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 5 (60-69%); Mathematics: Level 6 (70-79%); Physical Science or Geography: Level 5 (60-69%); APS: 34 (excluding Life Orientation).
