The Bachelor of Health Sciences in Occupational Hygiene at NWU is a four-year Potchefstroom programme that trains students to identify, evaluate, and control workplace health hazards including chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic risks. South Africa's mining, manufacturing, and industrial sectors carry significant occupational health burdens, making registered occupational hygienists critical to worker protection and regulatory compliance. Students study industrial toxicology, noise and dust measurement, ventilation, and occupational health legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
