Details

The purpose of Diploma in Public Administration is to empower Public Administration learners to be better equipped to function effectively in an increasingly complex workplace because of the sound contextualised knowledge base and practical skills acquired through their studies. This qualification aims to develop a responsive, coherent and transformative curriculum that will better equip learners in the public sector for any sphere of government, or within a public entity or other public sector or civil society agency or organisation. The Advisory Committee and representatives from the national, provincial and local government where the majority of learners are employed, provided input to render this qualification current with relevance to knowledge, skills, and practice within the public sector.

Including one of the following: ECO 3 (40%), BUS 3 (40%), ACC 3 (40%)
Part-time applicants should preferably be employed full-time in the public sector environment

Career Prospects

  • A Municipal Administrator in a local government municipality, where you manage administrative processes, council records, and service delivery coordination for communities across South Africa.
  • A Government Departmental Officer in a national or provincial government department such as the Department of Home Affairs or the Department of Social Development, supporting policy implementation and public service operations.
  • A Records Manager in a South African public sector institution, responsible for maintaining compliance with the National Archives and Records Service of South Africa Act and managing official government documentation.
  • A Public Relations Officer for a government entity or state-owned enterprise such as Eskom or Transnet, handling communication between the organisation and the public in line with government transparency requirements.
  • A Human Resources Administrator in a South African municipality or government department, managing staff recruitment, compliance with the Public Service Act, and employee welfare within the public sector.
