The Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts (Extended Programme) at the University of Pretoria is a five-year professional arts degree that provides additional academic support in the foundation year before students join the mainstream four-year Fine Arts programme. The first year of the extended programme offers foundational support in academic literacy, academic information management, and competence in art making, visual principles, and visual literacies — critical and unique skills for art making that are particularly valuable for students from under-resourced creative education backgrounds. Once fundamental aspects of these disciplines have been mastered, increasingly challenging goals are set requiring inter- and multidisciplinary skills and artistic research across the remaining four years. The extended programme ensures talented creative students have access to one of South Africa's best fine arts education programmes.
Admission requirements: English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4 (50-59%); Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy: Level 3 (40-49%); APS: 26 (excluding Life Orientation). Admissions take place in July and September.
