The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government is offering full-time bursaries to students residing in KZN for the 2026 academic year. The bursaries cover tuition, prescribed textbooks, meals/stipends, and accommodation where necessary. The programme aims to develop future professionals across strategic departments and will require recipients to enter into a work-back agreement upon completion of their studies.

Department of Human Settlements:

  • Construction Studies

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development:

  • Agricultural Entomology (BSc)
  • Agricultural Engineering (BSc)
  • Industrial Engineering (National Diploma)
  • Veterinary (Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Veterinary Science (BVSc)

Department of Provincial Treasury:

  • Accounting (Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Students with disabilities: Any related fields

Department of Transport:

  • Civil Engineering (BSc)
  • Maritime Studies
  • Transport and Logistics (BCom)
  • Transport Economics (BCom Honours)
  • Urban and Regional Planning

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen residing in KwaZulu-Natal
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Have completed Matric
  • Be registered or accepted to study full-time in 2026 at a recognised public tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Be pursuing an undergraduate qualification in a listed field
  • Submit all required documentation in full

Preference:

  • Students studying within KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Youth with disabilities

Required Documents:

  • Certified ID copy
  • Certified Matric certificate
  • Latest academic transcript (if applicable)
  • Proof of registration/acceptance (on institution letterhead)
  • Certified ID or death certificates of parents/guardians
  • Proof of household income or affidavit/unemployment grant proof
  • Proof of residence from ward councillor
  • Certified profiling certificate (if applicable)
